SOM is an acronym for System-On-Modules, the structure divided into the CPU board, base board and thermal solution, with modular design offers the replaceable and upgradable advantages for the adopters. Avlaue develops a series of products including COM Express Mini, Compact, Basic and Qseven at the open standard to benefit our customers.

SOM is appropriate for a vertical market, such as the commercial, maritime, gaming and the mil/aero applications. Generally, the adopters need spending a lot of resource on a product design, verification, certification, field test, etc.; however, the adopters need to re-do it again a few years later, since the CPU or some key components are going to end of life. SOM is the answer, the ability to plug a CPU board onto a carrier board reduces the time and cost to develop a product. Besides the product lifetime is increased as newer CPU board can simply be plugged onto the carrier board to improve performance or lower cost as they become available.
