Evalue Announces RoHS Compliance Action Plan

Taipei, Taiwan, October 12, 2004

Evalue is committed to conducting business in a manner that respects, preserves, and improves the environment. The mission of RoHS (Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substance in electrical and electronic equipment) Compliance Action Plan is to ensure a cleaner global environment and provide our customers the products without such hazardous elements as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and, polybrominated diphenyls ethers (PBDE).

Implementation Policy
(1)
The compliance action plan is implemented to ensure both materials and manufacturing processes will meet RoHS in the near future.
(2)
7- Phase implementation schedule is to build up flexible capacities for design, engineering, manufacturing, and service.
(3)
Considering the complexity and involvement of supplier chain, Evalue encourages and assists the suppliers to follow its RoHS implementation policy to eliminate all "solder lead and other hazardous substances" from Evalue's products.
(4)
Evalue takes necessary measures to substantially decrease the use of parts which do not meet RoHS directive by Q2/2005, except for critical components provided by suppliers beyond Evalue's control.
(5)
Evalue shall utilize substitute components whenever possible, and adopt appropriate modifications to current manufacturing processes.
(6)
Evalue shall make amendments to this policy which is necessary to adapt new scientific development, technical progress, and/or economic feasibility.

Product Offerings
All possible products will be offered in compliance with RoHS Policy by the second quarter of 2005. For the purposes of compliance action plan, no difference in form, fit or function of the products shall be changed.
